* Maritime Devil City (Ulungur Lake): Located on the eastern shore of Ulungur Lake. Wind erosion has sculpted the yellow sandstone into castle-like formations rising from the blue water, creating a stunning contrast at sunset.
* Accommodation: Altay City / Fuhai County.
Day 2: Altay City – Ahe Highway – Hemu Village
* Driving: Approx. 180 km (4–5 hours including photo stops)
* The Ahe Highway (Ahe Gonglu): One of Xinjiang’s most scenic alpine roads (Open approx. late June–Sept).
* Xiaodonggou: Lush spruce forests along the Kelan River.
* Wuxilike Wetland: High-altitude meadows dotted with wildflowers and marmots.
* Tongba Grassland: Vast pastures where Kazakh herders graze their livestock against a backdrop of snow-capped peaks.
* Tuolehaite Stone Forest: The road's highlight, featuring dramatic rock formations overlooking the Hemu Valley.
* Hemu Village (The "God's Own Land"):
* A pristine Tuvan village (a Mongolian subgroup) famous for its wooden log cabins scattered across a hillside.
* Haden Platform: The best viewpoint to overlook the entire village, the Hemu River, and the surrounding birch forests.
* Hemu Bridge & Birch Forest: Walk across the iconic wooden bridge and stroll through the white-barked birch forest.
* Accommodation: Traditional wooden cabin inside Hemu Village (Note: No air conditioning; warm layers required at night).

* Kanas Lake: A massive glacial moraine lake known for its color-changing waters (from turquoise to deep indigo). Legend speaks of a "Lake Monster" (likely the large Taimen fish). A lakeside walk or boat ride is recommended.

🔔 Important Notes for International Guests
1. Licensed Agency Requirement: Foreign travelers (holding passports) must book this tour through a licensed Chinese travel agency authorized for inbound tourism. Independent travel to Baihaba and specific border areas is prohibited.
2. Border Defense Permit (BDP): To visit Baihaba, a Border Defense Permit is mandatory. Your agency will usually arrange this in Altay City or Burqin upon arrival. Please provide clear copies of your passport and Chinese visa at least 10 working days in advance.
3. Documents: Carry your original passport and visa at all times. There are multiple police checkpoints along the route.
4. Seasonality: The Ahe Highway is typically open from late June to mid-October. July-August offers lush green grasslands; September offers spectacular golden autumn foliage (but early snow can close roads).
5. Climate & Packing: The Altai region has huge temperature swings. Even in summer, nights in Hemu/Kanas can drop to 5°C (41°F). Pack a fleece jacket or light down coat, sunscreen, sunglasses, and comfortable hiking shoes.
